Central Industrial Supply Company was founded in 1954 as an industrial supply company. It soon became apparent that Central Industrial should develop a more specialized market direction and product niche to be a successful industrial supply house. Fluid power and pneumatic logic controls were both in their infancy at the time, and became the main focus of Central Industrial's sales and marketing efforts.

In 1974, Central Industrial, at the request of a customer, developed the concept of packaging add-on lift truck accessories, mounting hardware and installation instructions in to a "kit" that could be shipped to a dealer and installed by the dealer to tailor lift trucks to better suit the customer's needs. This "kit" concept was then applied to the production line, which resulted in greatly reduced material handling and purchasing efforts, and increased assembly efficiency on the assembly line.

In 1992 Central Industrial split the two distinct business segments apart by forming Central Industrial Supply Company, an Industrial Distributor specializing in pneumatics; and Central Industrial Packaging Company, the "kitting" division.

Today

Central Industrial operates in a 14,000 square foot building located at 2916 Walkent Drive N.W. in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Central Industrial continues to serve West Michigan's manufacturers and tooling houses with a quality line of pneumatic tools, valves, regulators, filters and other pneumatic components along with fluid handling components and abrasives. "Kit" building for the material handling industry along with the operation of MRO cribs or integrated supply are several of Central Industrial's broadened service offerings.
